Day 1 Windows PC checks

Once you've received your newly built Windows computer, please complete the following steps to validate things are set up as expected.

We use a number of automation tools to build and secure your Windows computer to a pre-agreed standard and continually work in the background to make improvements. Most of the time the technology that needs to work to build your machine and apply the security policies to protect your data works seamlessly. But the ever-changing nature of software, information security threats, and the variability of internet performance means that sometimes steps don't happen that are expected. 

The following steps will help you familiarise yourself with your new PC and ensure things are as we expect. 

1. Sign into Company Portal

Company Portal ensures your Windows PC is kept secure and also can provide you with optional application installs. 

2. Sign in to Outlook

Outlook should be setup for you with your email and calendar avaiable. 

3. Check you have access to the right SharePoint libraries

SharePoint is where your companies documents are located.

4. Open Teams and make a call

Confirm you can chat, make video calls and share your screen with colleagues. You should be able to clearly hear and see them, and they should be able to clearly hear and see you. 

5. Print a test page

Make sure you're able to print to the printers in the office. 

Other (optional) Steps

1. Check any work VPN service

If you have access to a company VPN service, check you can connect (when you are out of the office). 

2. Open Zoom and make a call

If your company uses Zoom, check you can make a video call with colleagues. Video and Audio should be clear.  

3. Ensure you have any Adobe Creative Cloud applications you need

Ensure that you have any creative cloud applications you need on your computer.
