      How can I tell if my Windows PC disk is encrypted?

      BitLocker is the Windows 10 disk encryption technology that ensures that your data can't be read by someone else. If you've turned it on and you lose your PC, then your data will stay safe.

      To check to see if your Windows 10 computer's disk is encrypted:

      1. Open Windows File Explorer
      2. Under This PC look to see if the disk icon has a lock on it. If it does, the disk is encrypted with BitLocker as per the image below:

       

      If your disk is not encrypted, we would advise turning BitLocker encryption on, unless you have an older PC without a TPM chip.
