How do I reset my PC?

Sometimes your Windows 10 PC just needs a fresh restart. Resetting it does just that, giving you the opportunity to easily re-install Windows.

To reset your PC, type reset in the the search bar and choose the Reset this PC option. The Recovery Settings panel will appear. Clicking Get Started gives you two options:

  1. Keep My Files
  2. Remove Everything.

The cleanest reset, when your PC is enrolled in AutoPilot

If your PC is enrolled in AutoPilot and your data is safely stored in OneDrive and SharePoint (or stored safely somewhere NOT on your PC) then you can choose Remove everything. Once Windows has been re-installed, AutoPilot will install your applications and your data will be available through the OneDrive and SharePoint links.

Reset and keep your data

If you are not certain that you have a copy of your data, then choose Keep my files. If your PC is not enrolled in AutoPilot, you will have a clean copy of Windows, with your data, but you will be missing the applications you need to work with.
